Metabolism Scans Gold Coast

Our Metabolism Scan and Analysis Service

At MNT Diagnostics in Robina, our state-of-the-art metabolism scan uses the QNRG Indirect Calorimetry machine, the first of its kind on the Gold Coast outside of the intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospitals.

This advanced technology measures your metabolic rate and energy expenditure, offering precise data on how your body utilises energy. The results also provide insight into how much protein, carbs and fat your body needs and burns daily.

During the scan, you simply relax and breathe into a mask for about 10 minutes. The data collected is then analysed by our expert diagnostic dietitian to develop a personalised, actionable nutrition and lifestyle plan. This tailored approach ensures that your dietary intake matches your metabolic needs, helping you achieve your health and fitness goals more efficiently.

Combine With A Body Composition Scan

Our body composition scans utilise BI-Spectroscopy (BIS) technology, specifically the SECA 525 MBCA, a highly accurate German machine known for its precision and reliability.

Unlike typical gym body composition assessments, our scans provide a comprehensive analysis of your muscle, bone, fat, visceral fat, and water distribution. This test is clinically accurate and suitable for all individuals, including those with mobility issues, as it does not require standing.

By placing electrodes on your wrists and ankles, the scan delivers detailed insights into your body's composition.

In addition to our BI-Spectroscopy scans, we are soon offering DEXA body composition scans for patients.

When paired with a dietitian consultation, these results can significantly enhance your nutrition and health plan, ensuring you receive the most effective guidance tailored to your unique body composition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The frequency of metabolic scans depends on your individual condition and goals. If you are experiencing significant changes in body composition, such as preparing for a bodybuilding competition or managing a new or progressive medical condition, frequent scans may be necessary at first to closely monitor your health and fitness progression.

For most individuals, an initial scan is recommended to establish a baseline understanding of your metabolism. Follow-up scans are typically advised months later to track changes and adjust your nutrition and fitness plans accordingly. However, the exact timing can vary based on your specific needs and the guidance of your healthcare provider. Regular monitoring ensures that your dietary and exercise programs are optimally tailored to support your goals and overall health.

  • No referral is needed to book a metabolic or body composition scan. However, you can receive a rebate through private health insurance and if you have a GP referral, medicare rebates may also apply. If you have been referred, your results will be provided to your referring clinician.
