Services We Offer and Patients We Work With
Our services are designed to offer precise insights into patient health, whether for managing clinical conditions, optimising enteral nutrition, performance or supporting general metabolic health and weight management.
What sets us apart is our exclusive use of only the most advanced clinical machinery, including the state-of-the-art QNRG, which offers unparalleled accuracy compared to older, outdated systems used by others on the Gold Coast. In addition to cutting-edge technology, our specialists are highly trained in interpreting and actioning the results, ensuring that your patients receive the most effective, personalised care.
Total Body Nutrition Assessment (TBNA)
Our most commonly referred service for a comprehensive nutrition work up. This includes Metabolism Scan, Substrate Analysis, BI-Spectroscopy and DEXA. This assessment delivers a detailed report comparing the patient's current nutritional intake with their body composition, fluid status, bone density and metabolic requirements. It provides clinicians with actionable insights for making dietary recommendations based on a patient's unique physiology.
BI-Spectroscopy
(Fluid Status & Body Composition Analysis)
Using the SECA 525 MBCA, this service offers a clinically accurate breakdown of fluid status, body water compartments, skeletal muscle mass, fat-free mass, Phase Angle, and visceral fat. It is particularly useful for assessing fluid status and provides a radiation free alternative for tracking body composition changes and assessing malnutrition. This scan is also accessible for individuals with amputations or those using mobility devices.
Metabolism Scanning
Using QNRG Calorimetry, this clinically accurate breath test evaluates how efficiently a patient’s metabolism functions. It determines the speed of the metabolism aswell as the precise number of calories, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats the patient burns, providing valuable insight into their metabolic environment. This test can also be performed on individuals with amputations and those using mobility devices.
DEXA (Body Composition & Bone Density)
Using the latest MedixDr, DEXA provides precise measurements of body fat, visceral fat, lean mass, and bone density, making it the gold standard for body composition analysis. Ideal for tracking fat and muscle changes and assessing bone density. For a more comprehensive analysis, pair DEXA with BI-Spectroscopy to assess fluid status, as DEXA cannot measure body water compartments.
*please note that DEXA services are temporarily unavailable and will commence February 2025
Substrate Analysis
Also using QNRG Calorimetry, this test assesses the patient’s utilisation rates of carbohydrates versus fats, offering a clear understanding of their macronutrient needs. This analysis helps determine the patient’s physiological preference for carbohydrates and fats, allowing for more accurate dietary prescriptions.
Specialist Dietetics
We offer Specialist Dietetics consultation services for patients with rare, complex, or misunderstood conditions.
Invisible Illnesses: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).
Tube feeding (NG/PEG/NJ/PEJ).
Metabolic health concerns such as weight management, those taking GLP-1 agonists, Metabolic Syndrome, MAFLD, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, PCOS, high cholesterol, Menopause, thyroid conditions and high blood pressure.
As a specialist diagnostic service, we’re always up-to-date with the latest technology, continuously expanding our services to meet the evolving diagnostic needs of our referral partners. Some exciting upcoming additions to our clinic include:
Nutrition Ultrasound (Q3 2025)
VO2 Max & Exercise Testing (Q3 2025)

Our Referral Service
Health professionals can refer their patients to MNT Diagnostics in three ways:
E-Referral Form: Submit the referral through our e-referral form. Once submitted, we will contact the patient directly to schedule their appointment.
Physical Referral Pad: Alternatively, you can request a physical referral pad for your practice. Simply fill the form at the bottom of this page, and we will send the referral pad to you alongside an introduction package.
Medical Objects: For those eligible for EPC/EDP/DVA, it is best to provide a referral via Medical Objects. MED OBJ ID: JM4215002GK
Referrals For Nutrition Diagnostics: Once the referral is received and the patient is booked, our diagnostics dietitian will conduct the necessary scans based on the referral, interpret the results, and create a detailed report to be sent back to you within 48 hours of the procedure. The referring clinician can then discuss the findings with the patient, incorporating the results into the patient’s ongoing care plan.
Referrals For Specialist Dietetics Consultation: Once a referral is received, we triage it based on clinical need to ensure timely access to care. The appropriate specialist dietitian will assess the patient, provide tailored nutrition recommendations, and maintain clear correspondence with the referring clinician. A detailed report, including outcomes and recommendations, is sent promptly allowing the referring clinician to incorporate these insights into the patient’s care plan.
Report Interpretations
All of our diagnostic reports are designed to provide detailed, clinically relevant insights that support your patient’s care. Each report is carefully created to ensure that the data is interpreted within the clinical context, offering you practical recommendations to guide treatment.
For clinicians unfamiliar with interpreting our reports, we offer a New Referrer Package. This package provides comprehensive tools and guidelines to help you understand the results and make the most informed decisions for your patient. To receive a physical referral pad for your practice, fill the form at the bottom of the page.
